Your Friend for all Time

Photos by my niece, Laurea De Ocampo from her visit to the Philip Johnson Glass House

A battalion of years have marched before me
Right here as I stand
Still, erect
Sometimes I dance with the wind

I am here for a task so great
Because of a love so deep
When I breathe, all life is nurtured
Birds find their home in me
With outstretched hands,  I welcome them

Children pursue the heights that I reach
For what my arms offer
To fill them, quench them, refresh their life
A man and a woman have sought forever in me
With a heart and an arrow
They gave me the task to proclaim to the world
Their love for each other

These and more are the many things I do
For you, oh dear beloved of GOD

Take care of me
I am your friend for all time
