Damn you! How can you look so puny? How can you disguise yourself as just an "emotion"? How can you be seemingly something that could be brushed off? Something that we can just sleep on, eat through or just talk to a friend about?
Darn! You're more than that. You know how to catch someone at their perfect moment. You bring them down, devour their spirit until they do harm to everything around them, including themselves!
You even took the ability to mutate yourself so we don't recognize you. Wow! Cunning! You used to be just being withdrawn, not talking as much, sleeping all the time and all those "depressed" behavior. Now you are taking over the fun people, the great people, the people who we look up to. Cursed you! You know where to take them, where you can have them all to yourself and make it look like their family and friends neglected them. Or, make them look like they are in some kind of mental condition or just make them look there is something wrong with them. Oh, you're so clever!
Well, depression, I know now who you are and what you are up to. You and that cancer! You both have the same agenda - bring humanity to extinction. Away with you! You know what I have against you? FAITH! Yes, that corny thing you call it - FAITH IN GOD.
Oh goodness, I can hear you laughing out so loud. I can hear you say, "Yeah yeah yeah that cliché and religion and all that crap" Go ahead and laugh! In fact I want you to laugh hard and have all the fun you think you can have while I am confident that I am safe against you. Yes you can still come around, I know, I know, but as you do, all I'll do is remain calm, serene and peaceful because compared to this God you laugh at, you are a speck of dust! So shoo! shoo! shoo!
Now I know what you are thinking. You are targeting my family and friends right? I've also got something for you if you try to go there - LOVE. Yes, again, that nonsense concept from the same God, LOVE. I don't care how you might mutate again or disguise yourself or whatever. Maybe you will make it look as if they have something against me. You might even have them show me that they hate me. Well, LOVE, it is still LOVE to crush you, depression.
So, you might have seem to have won with other people. Nope. They are in another God given weapon I have that's called PRAYER.
So, give it up depression. Yeah, you have made an impact, a strong one but your days are gone here.

Hi Pam,
Depression is a real illness. It is not something you can just snap out of (as in "snap out of it"). Illnesses and disorders of the brain are stigmatized and consequently ignored by the general population. (Unfortunately a lot of MDs are also ignorant of the very real impact of mental illness.)
The stigma stems from the fact that mental problems only make themselves known through the person's behavior. Why does that make it easily stigmatized? Well, contrast this with how problems of other organs show themselves. Heart (cardiovascular) problems appear as high blood pressure. Kidney problems are felt as stones and appear as bloating. Liver, as jaundice and fatigue. The point is that brain problems manifest themselves through behavior and how we behave is something that people typically believe is under our direct control. Furthermore, and this was probably the case with Robin Williams, we can mask our depression and sometimes so effectively, that we even deceive ourselves.
This is our take-away: Mental illnesses are real. Problems with the brain are as real as problems with any other organ.
Just as there are heart specialists, there are also brain specialists. They're called psychiatrists and psychologists. They're the ones who dissect behavior and try to fathom the illness in our minds.
I suffer from mental illness too and since I was diagnosed, I've resolved to understand this beast as best as I can.
If prayer works for you, great. But one could also try meditation, drugs, and regular appointments with the aforementioned brain specialists.
Good luck!
Thanks for reading! Not just PRAYER... Need to put FAITH and LOVE as well.
FAITH that there is an assurance that everything is working for the good even beyond what this world understands
LOVE that no matter what we put the relationship first before anything else and
PRAYER to commune with that mysterious being taking care of us without us noticing it....
Yes, Cooper, He is taking care of you and watching over you..... I, as your family, love you...
