PEDRING in a Day

2AM, I knew there was a storm coming but I didn't expect the noise Pedring's angry winds made.  The banging of objects outside made it impossible for me to go back to sleep.  At that moment, I decided that I was gonna stay home and not go to work and be with the kids.  I was too scared that some flying object might hit me on the way to work.

While my kids and I watched the wind and the rain make a grand performance, we witnessed our little tree in our pocket garden suffer Pedring's wrath.  I need to figure out if I should cut him off or just try and get something to hold him back up.  Other than this, as can be seen, everything else was safe around the house.

Meanwhile, through the intermittent internet connection I was getting was an array of stories and features on Facebook of what was going on in the rest of the metro amidst Pedring.  This one broke my heart big time:  Roxas Boulevard engulfed by the rain and the overflowing water of the Manila Bay
(shared by Mr. Paul Go via my friend Gina Sevilla-Mendoza)

Roxas Boulevard is my favorite part of Metro Manila.  Besides being the famous the sunset strip of the city, I love that it is near the bay plus the life and romance it exudes - the business establishments, the famous hotels and restaurants, the historical sites, etc etc.  This is the place where my life took a turn and made me a wife and mother.  I know this was awful but at least it was not a tsunami (knock on wood!).  Oh, Roxas Boulevard...

There are a hundred other horrible incidents that Pedring brought in the metro and the affected provinces but there is one that brings light - the story of Ms Winnie Singko as shared by my sister, Charie Villa. Be touched with how Ms Winnie "lit her one little candle".

And the song goes like this,

(randomly searched on google and brought to the youtube account of Maureen712)

The lyrics:
It is better to light just one little candle
Than to stumble in the dark
Better far that you light just one little candle
All you need's a tiny spark

If we'd all say a prayer that the world would be free
The wonderful dawn on the new day we'll see
And if everyone lit just one little candle
What a bright world this would be

What a bright world this would be
